Environmental Statement
The Solo Pak Portion
Control system offers many value added benefits for customers
who want to choose environmentally responsible cleaning products.
Key contributors to the environmental outcome are as
follows:
- Responsible Manufacturing
Solo Pak endeavor to conserve natural resources.
We recycle all cardboard waste from the plant and participate to a waste
exchange program for all liquid waste that is generated in the facility.
- Safer Ingredients
Solo Pak products are formulated to deliver optimum cleaning performance
without resorting to the use of extreme pH (acid or alkali) or toxic
solvents. Naturally sourced ingredients are incorporated wherever possible
while biodegradability is an essential characteristic of all materials
used.
This translates to practical benefits in 3 areas:
- The Natural Environment. Solo Pak products do
not lead to pH shock, poisoning with toxic solvents or eutrification
of water systems.
- The Built Environment. The use of non-hazardous
products will minimise the damage to building surfaces when hazardous
cleaners are used. Effective cleaners minimise the level of abrasion
damage caused by Suds Without Substance
cleaning products. Surfaces will have a longer life and look better
during service. Maintenance costs will be reduced as a result.
- The Building Occupants. Solo Pak products are
designed in accordance with Cleaning for Health
programs whereby Sick Building Syndrome
is avoided. Building Users will enjoy a pleasant work environment
that is conducive to maximum productivity.
- Less Chemical.
Portion Control is a proven concept for controlling usage and reducing
waste by multinational fast food franchises. Overuse and waste of detergents
is a major contributor to environmental damage. Less wastage of detergents
means less chemical discharged to the environment and a better environmental
outcome.
- Less Packaging to Land Fill.
Solo Pak products are shipped to site in small polyethylene bags protected
by a cardboard carton. Products are diluted in dispensers which can
be reused for many years. The quantity of packaging discarded to Land
Fill is reduced by greater than 90% when compared to systems using large
metal and plastic drums. This is a major benefit as land fill space
becomes less available into the future.
- Less Freight.
Solo Pak Super Concentrated Detergents occupy one tenth of the space
and weight of conventional detergents which are shipped in drums because
the water is added at the point of use with Solo Pak rather than at
the Chemical Factory. Greenhouse gasses produced freighting detergent
are reduced to a minimum.
The combined effect of these features is that Solo Pak Systems offer
substantial benefit toward environmentally responsible detergent usage.
